Violence in Mexico

Some people may be wondering about the violence in Mexico. Yes, there is a lot of violence in Mexico. Down here we hear of a lot of stuff all the time, and quite frankly, there are no such thing as a “hot zone”. Everywhere there are deaths and violence. From the best I can understand the situation, most of the death is drug-gang related, even the deaths of teens by drug lords. A Federal policeman told me that the soccer team that was celebrating a victory and got wiped out was actually a gang that they formed among upper class kids. A rival gang didn’t like their victory. When the kids have parents that are drug dealers, they have easy access to high powered arms and people who will use them to kill.

It is my understanding that the drug infiltration has gone into the entire government, police forces, and military, and this extends all the way up to Calderon, the president of Mexico. The situation just is impossible to correct without starting at the top, and this won’t happen very easily. We are currently in a downward spiral which will get worse and worse. As the economy gets worse and worse, the drug lords will start offering to pay off the national debt and other such non-sense, and that is when they will legalize drugs and the rich will enter big time into the drug traffic without it being illegal.

From my point of view, I don’t think our Lord can delay His coming very much longer. Things are getting too close to the Antichrist’s government in our world, and either He will send a revival as a reprive of things, or they will start locking up Christians. Frankly I fear more the US than Mexico on that point.

David and Tule Cox Family

First, who am I? I am an independent Baptist missionary serving in Mexico City since 1986. I graduated from Bob Jones University in 1979 with a B.A. in Christian Missions, in 1981 with a M.A. in Bible, and in 1982 with a M.S. in Administration and Supervision of Schools. I am independent (no affiliation or association with any denomination, fellowship, nor group). I am separated in that I believe in separating from those claiming to be Christians but who fellowship and particate with false prophets, bad doctrine, ungodly conduct, etc. I am Fundamental in that I believe in the Fundamentals of the Faith, and I put serious effort in defending and promoting them.

I invite you to view my site which explains our ministry, pray for us, and if God so leads, to donate financially to help us maintain ourselves economically.

Deputation Schedule

We are back from our mini-furlough and will probably be planning on taking another furlough in the spring of 2013. If your church is interested in having us present our ministry in your church, please email me at davidcoxmex@gmail.com.

Why am I making so many new websites?

This entry is part 1 of 4 in the series Ministry

I originally had a single website, www.davidcox.com.mx. On that website (my first one I ever did), I have half of it in Spanish, and the other half in English. I also dabble around studying how to get your website noticed by the Search Engines. So in reading some technical commentaries on this issue, I see that it is highly recommended that you keep your website small and make multiple websites with different content on each, and above all, keep it in the same language. Bingo! I messed up. But since I have so many “other people” linking into my website, changing it is difficult, first because it needs to be all done now and uploaded and finished. None of this parcially done stuff like I have to do between my other ministry work. So that was a factor. Another factor is that I made my website with Microsoft Frontpage, which I like, but at one point, the site got too big to automatically update (Frontpage freezes for 20 minutes or so while it is comparing it’s copy on the Internet with my hard disk copy). So I have to use a FTP to upload my files. After accidentally uploading to the wrong folder on my website a few times (erasing what was already there), I got frustrated.

Another thing that I am taking into consideration is that it is highly recommended that you use blogging software. Google, for example, understands how to find content on blogs better than a normal non-blog site. So to get my writings at least indexed in Google, I need to have them in the right format that the search engines can navigate the site well. Rather than fighting this, I think it is better to just use a well-know blog and stop the hassles. I use Word Press which I am learning. (I learned the basics in about 3 hours, and started putting up content the same day.)

Another very important factor is that your pages are ranked higher in search engines when other people’s sites link to your pages. So the more links coming into your pages the higher is the ranking. Google has no way of knowing between 5 websites if they are all the same owner or not. So I figure I can link between my sites and get a boost on the ranking.

The Word Press experiment continues, and I am searching for nice useful plugins and themes. I am getting this down somewhat.

Adela accepted the Lord

On door to door evangelism today (Saturday April 24), I was able to lead Adela to the Lord. She is a mother of 3. Please pray for her and her family that they would come to our church and get involved. We regularly have Saturdays where 3-4 people make decisions, but doing any follow-up with them is always difficult.

Update: Our Church Work Status

We had a full house today, with about 50 people (including the children and young people). One lady wanted to present her baby to the church and for us to prayer for her, so a lot of her family came (about 8+) and even at that, we were missing a good many people today.

We continue to request prayer for David Pérez who has had kidney failure, and is undergoing dialysis.

I also am hoarse, so I would appreciate your prayers for my health. We continue to witness every Saturday and see some decisions usually every Saturday. It is hard to get these people to come to our church though. We also have Satan working on some of our regular families that they would not come to church. Please pray for Maribel, a younger lady with 3 small kids that come even though her husband (unsaved) is against it.

Update: Our Website Outreach

As of the end of March 2010, these are some of the details of our website. We have no idea of how many times these files are being copied to other websites or distributed around churches, fellowships, between Christians living in different cities, etc. We just have some idea of how much people are downloading off of our site. We have 100 Gigabytes of monthly bandwidth, and we have been cut off 4-5 days before the end of the month twice this year because we reached our limit before the month was out. I would emphasize that all of our material is TOTALLY FREE! We charge nothing for it, everything is complete on the Internet and people can download it, and as long as they don’t sell it, they can reproduce it all they want. Where else can you get all this free stuff in one place, all Fundamental and sound in doctrine?

Hello world!

Hi world! This is my first post in this blog. Started Abril 12, 2010. I learned Word Press Monday of last week. Tuesday I started www.davidcoxsermones.com, and have it up and working. The rest of last week I searched for widgets and plugins to make this thing half way decent. This week I am starting the English counterpart (this blog). What fun! My head hurts! All that learning of a new program that is totally strange to me, and learning how to make it work (endless google searches and youtube searches on this that and the other), was done between preaching Wednesday night, witnessing 3 hours Sat, and between cleaning the church and a friend invited us to eat with him afterwards, I left the house at 10AM and got home at 5PM. Sunday I preached Adult Sunday School, AM and PM services, and in addition I wrote the Intermediate and Youth Sunday School Classes, not to mention making the evening service into a tract (Gossipers). So I had about 6 preparations, and I did next weeks Intermediates, so that makes seven. (My kids home schooling was light last week). Busy week. By Sunday night I was horse and today I am worse. Staying up at night working on these things is a killer.
