5 saved on evangelism (June 19th)

5 saved on Saturday evangelism. Luis Enrique’s birthday party. María Luisa’s mother is open.

We praise God that our small church continues to grow. Saturday the women had the women’s prayer breakfast with about 20 women present, and the men went out witnessing. We had 5 people saved Saturday. I myself led a teenager to the Lord. We continue to get decisions in our sweep of different neighborhoods around the church, but most of these people are very difficult to get into the church. What they do on the street is one thing, but actually getting them into a service is another.

Please pray for Maria Luisa. She is again having problems with her husband, and she has requested prayer for their marriage. One of her children, Luis Enrique (from a previous marriage), turned 20 this past week, so she invited us for the “party”. She asked him to leave several years back because he has turned rebellious towards her, and now drinks and smokes. He lives with his grandparents. We went because María Luisa invited us. I have talked with Luis Enrique about his soul, and at one point he said he accepted the Lord, but I wasn’t too convinced about his decision. After a while of drifting away from God, now he claims he is Catholic, but he doesn’t even understand Catholic doctrine nor does he follow that. He listens to Heavy Metal music and runs with bad friends, so he continues the downhill spirul.

They gave us seafood Ceviche, a kind of seafood mix with catsup, lime juice, tomato, and seafood (squid, octopus, shrimp, etc). It was kind of good, but has a lot of colesterol because of the seafood. While there I met for the first time Maria Luis’ mother. Her father comes sometimes to the church. He is usually very attentive in the services listening to the sermon. But her mother is a Jehova’s Witness, and won’t talk to Maria Luisa and others about it. We started talking about diabetes, and from there I started telling her about the things we don’t accept from the JWs. She was very eager to listen it seems. She wasn’t closed or worse, argumentative like most JWs we talk with. We had to leave for the evening service, so I had to cut it off, but in the she was open. We will try to pass by her house and visit with her this week.

Please pray for our church. I gave our men their assignments for preaching from August through November, so we will see how they do. I decided that we as a church should study through the Gospel of John, and so I designated each service (Sunday School, and evening services) with a passage from John. The men seemed to like this a lot. Each one basically will preach about 4 — 5 times. I will have to help a few with their sermons because they are very new at this, butin general, it seemed like all liked it. I will try to record with the video camera sermons for the 15 main Sunday AM worship services that I will miss, the Lord willing. Supposedly I was going to record one or two of those services yesterday between the AM and PM services, but as such, we got invited to eat, and I didn’t get any of that done. But that is okay, we were able to see an open door to this lady’s heart, which we want to follow up.
