These are something a kin to prayer letters, but they are a mixture of our activities, information and news about our country and city, and also things we request prayer about.

Trip to California – Lupus

Dear Praying Friend,

We would like to ask your prayers for a special need we have at this time.

First of all, an update on our status. We are still having an extremely slow time of it at getting meetings and getting our needed support. Our monthly budget is “nip and tuck” most months, and sometimes we barely make ends meet to pay rent. We are under a lot of economic need at present.

Secondly, we have gotten a few new supporters over 2016, and I expect that we will get at least a few more before we return to Mexico. Please pray that some of our supporting churches would raise our support to help out on things.

Thirdly, we have been out on furlough for close to two years now, and the economic situation in the churches that we can see seems to continue to be bad. Most churches don’t even listen or review our promotional literature because they have no possibility to take on a new missionary, so this is bad for us.

Notwithstanding, our church in Mexico City is suffering because we are not there, and we need to return to it. We are planning on going back in August or September of 2017. Our rent contract in Orlando is up at that time, and we will move our two kids from a 3 bedroom place to a 2 bedroom place. Once we do that, we will visit with family a week or two and return to Mexico with whatever we have in hand. They will continue in college there. Please pray for them as they still depend on us for support, and also they are studying medicine, and the university system is heavily liberal, and it works against a good Christian all the way around. Pray that they would find some good Christians as friends.

By August, we still need about $4000 to move back to Mexico, pay rent deposits, stay in a hotel until we find a place to rent, and buy some furniture and a bed, etc. We sold all of that because of lack of storage space, and also because we needed more for traveling to the states. Of this financial need, we don’t have anything in hand at the moment. Pray that we would quickly find a good economical place when we get back.

Fourthly, our family doctor gave Tule a test, and it came back positive for Lupus. That doctor cannot diagnose for Lupus though. So she referred us to a rheumatologist. The dates that he can attend patients are like 4-6 months in advance, so we really didn’t want to go to him, do a bunch of tests, and then break that off when we return to Mexico.

Tule has found a clinic that treats Lupus in Tijuana Mexico, just below San Diego. It is a different approach, and we would buy medicine necessary for the months we will still be in the US. We are planning on a trip to Los Angeles (about 3 hours north of Tijuana) in March and April (if the Lord provides necessary funds). Our dates for the California trip are March 3 through April 21st. We are planning on taking the first week or so of that trip, and going to this clinic. We would go to our meetings on Sunday, and cross the border on Monday, returning Friday or Saturday for the next weekend meetings. Please pray that we would get a full schedule of meetings in this trip, and some new supporters would come of it.

Our special prayer request is that God would use this clinic to help Tule get a good grasp on her Lupus and give some relief. They are supposed to only cost about 20% of what a doctor treating that in the US would charge. As such we are estimating that it should cost less than $2000 for that part of things, and that would include 5 days hotel south of the border. We would return to Tijuana from Mexico City after we return if she needs followup. (I don’t think that will be necessary though as we can buy the medicine in Mexico. Maybe another visit to this clinic in a year or two after taking the medication.)

We think that this will be cheaper on us in the long run, as not all Lupus treatment may be covered by our health insurance. We would ask you to pray for this clinic to help Tule with her problem, that God would protect us “south of the border” (there are problems between Trump and Mexico, and gringos are not the most welcome people right now). Also please pray for funds for the trip. I am estimating that the trip to California will cost around $3500 and we probably will get close to $1000 in love offerings. Maybe a little more, maybe less.

Pastor Marquez (one of our supporters in a Spanish speaking church) is arranging our meetings out there in California.

So we would request your prayers. There is a possibility we won’t go at all if we don’t have funds to go on the trip, so please pray for that also. We have other expenses that we are just waiting on the Lord for. Both Tule and I have dental work we need done, but we are holding off on that for now except when some emergency comes up. I also need to change my eyeglasses which is a tri-focal, and is expensive. We need to sell our present car and purchase a newer model. All of this we are just waiting because of a lack of funds. Normally love offerings would cover a lot of this while on furlough, but this furlough has seen few meetings and love offerings.

We really need more monthly support with the way things are going for us. It is incredibly difficult to get meetings these days, much less actual support. We could really use your prayers for us.

I am also trying to sell some things through our websites to make at least a little bit of extra income to help us out. It is difficult as a missionary to work any kind of secular job, so selling some of my books and things is about the only option I see, but I am trying to help our situation however I can. Both of our children, Kelsie and Russ, have jobs, and are working to help support their financial needs as we are not in a position to really give them much. They are both full time students and are working 20 some hours per week. The Pell grant money has provided them with a car each, and it is running out, so they are having to fight the money problem without much help from mom and dad.

Finally, pray for our church on the field. Some of our people left when we first left on furlough, and the entire church was depressed about that. It hasn’t gotten better.

Prayer requests
1. Meetings until August 2017.
2. New monthly support.
3. Return to field fund by August.
4. Trip to California (meetings, new support, funds to cover expenses).
5. Clinic in Tijuana
6. Safety in Tijuana
7. Special Expenses in all of this.
8. New apartment for Kelsie and Russ in Orlando.
9. New apartment or house in Mexico for us when we return.
10. Our church on the field.
11. Newer car for us before we go back (a 2010 is what we are hoping for).
12. Money for odds and ends we need before we go back.

Specific Financial needs/prayer requests
1. Trip to California $3000 (pray for good love offerings)
2. Clinic $2000
3. Return to Field $4000
4. Newer Car fund ????
5. More Monthly Support
6. That we would get added income from donations through the websites and sale of things off my websites.
7. Finances of our church on the field.

We want to thank all of our faithful supporters who do send us sacrificially every month. We are so glad to have these people standing with us and supporting us. Without them, it would be impossible to do the work of the Lord. If you feel let to give something, and do not have money immediately, it is fine to give even when we are on the trip or on the way back.

If you would like to donate towards these expenses,  please write a check to

Orlando Bible Church
4405 East Colonial Dr.
Orlando, FL 32803

Please note that the check needs to be made out to “Orlando Bible Church”, and on the memo line or on a separate piece of paper with the check, you will need to add “For David Cox” in order for it to get to us.

In Christ,
Your Missionaries

Our Support Situation

We thank the Lord that we have been getting a few more supporters over the summer. These are few, and we are marching towards our needed goal so
that we can return to Mexico, but we just are not there yet. We need about $1200 more monthly support. Our monthly budget continues to grow as medical, dental, insurance, and even housing expenses continue to climb. Just about every time
we get a little more support, something increases or
a new budget comes in or an old one increases. Our health insurance increased our monthly premium $100 in October. Please continue to pray for our finances. Some months were are barely making it. Continue reading Prayer Update Oct 2016

2016 May Trip to Los Angeles

Please pray for our upcoming trip to Los Angeles in May and June of 2016. We will be visiting new churches this time, presenting our ministry in mainly hispanic churches out there, and trying to get some or all of these churches to pray for us, and to support us economically.

Please pray for churches to pray and support us.

Please pray for our funds because this trip is costly, and we are running really tight these days on funds.

January Visit to our Church

We went to visit our church in Mexico for the first three Sundays of January. We are on a furlough trying to raise our needed support (we are at about 40%). We had a good time with our people, and they were encouraged. Continue reading 2016 02 February Cox Missionary Update 2016

Text of the Prayer Letter Update

Missionary David Cox – Mexico
Prayer Update for May-June 2015

Our Furlough/New Deputation

We want to update you on our ministry. We have labored here in this church plant in Mexico City for 13 years, and we have not taken a furlough to visit new churches in all that time. This is the longest time we have gone without doing deputation work in our 30 years as missionaries. I have felt that it was better to stay with our church and keep it growing instead of breaking off the work every 4 years. As such, we are now going to have to do that.

Our plans are to leave Mexico the end of June and go to Orlando, Florida. Kelsie and Russ (our children) are both in College in Orlando, and they will move in with us, and Tule will keep house for us all, and I will travel visiting new churches, and our supporting churches.

Please pray for some specific needs. We need to find a reason apartment or house (low rent) with 3 to 4 bedrooms, and space for a desk for me to study, and the kids also. Since whatever we rent most probably will be unfurnished, we will need at least a table to eat on, and some beds (or cots until we get money for beds). We also need a couple of desks and some living room furniture. I am not sure what kind of kitchen and washer and drier setup apartments have in the states now. We also will need to set up house (kitchenware, towels, bedspreads, etc.).

Please pray for extra income in these next months (July through October) so that we will have money to cover things until I start getting deputation meetings with love offerings.

Pray for Our Church

Please pray for our church. We have about a half dozen to 8 men that teach our adult and youth Sunday School classes. They will be filling in for me while I am gone. That group with a few other men that don’t teach will be taking care of our church while I am gone. Please pray that God would give them wisdom in their ministries. None are profession preachers, but they are doing what they can. Also please pray for me as I assign preaching times and days, as well as provide these men with Sunday School Classes and sermon outlines to help them get started on their sermons.

Pray for our continued evangelism

Please pray for our efforts to evangelism Mexico City (the area where our church is located). This work is very discouraging mostly, but every now and then we have new people come into the church through this effort. Please pray for the faithfulness of our workers, and that the tracts will lead people to Christ.

Our Baptisms for June 2015

(The picture at right is our baptisms for September 2014)

We have four people taking baptismal classes right now, and we will have a church picnic and baptisms the first part of June in Brother Luis Ramos property near the church. He has a large property that is like a closed in park. We are blessed to have brother Luis in our church.

In Christ, Pastor David Cox

2015 03 March Prayer Update

Prayer Letter for David and Tule Cox
March 2015

Dear Praying Friends,

We would like to update you on our ministry. We continue to work with the church here in Mexico City. We continue to have new families come and visit us. We see people from the weekly tract distribution come visit us also. Please pray for these families that they would come and stay, and make their church home with us. We would also constantly pray that all the people that come with us would be truly saved and serving our Lord.

We would also ask for your prayers for our vehicle. It is 13 years old, and everything on it seems to want to break or stop working. We had our radiator crack, and after fixing it, a fuse on the fans go out causing it to overheat and burst a water hose. I couldn’t find a replacement and had to order from the dealership, which was $120 dollars. Once that was fixed, again it overheated on even short runs, and took it in again, and the water pump was shot, and the belt from the pump to the engine was shred. This goes on and on. Please pray that the Lord would provide for us to buy a newer car.

Kelsie has used her Grant money to buy an old used car for her and Russ to get around in Orlando. Likewise she has had a lot of car problems, and we had to replace the transmission on that last month. It is very difficult having kids in college, and you don’t have enough support to live yourself, much less for them. Please pray for our finances as we have a lot of “kids in college” expenses.

Last year I had a torn rotor cup among other arm and joint problems. I could not spend very much time at the computer typing when it started to hurt and I had to stop. Because of that, I didn’t do much “studying at the computer” (just the minimal that I had to in order to get my sermons done). Unfortunately, I did not notice during that time that my sites were being hacked with malware. Over Christmas I started getting notices that my sites were being blocked by Google because of that.

That started the great malware and virus study on my part, and after having lost 6 sites to malware, I have gotten them all back. What really irritates me is that the sites where I post my own personal writings, books, tracts, pastor and new Christian helps, etc. were the sites that were most strongly attacked. I have permanently block Italy from my sites because they were the principal country where these attacks were coming from. Please pray for our web ministry that we can get our writings and helps online, and be useful to our brethren around the world.

A lot of these sites have between 500-1000 new visitors each month. Some of the works are being downloaded by 10,000s per month. Please pray that God uses this for His glory.

We continue with Saturday tract evangelism, and we have recently had two families come and stay because of that contact. We have our two deacon families that are the backbone of that ministry. We still fight with printing enough tracts. Please pray that God will use his Word to reach people through this ministry.

Please pray for our health, and our frustration at living in Mexico City. It is very difficult most of the time.

In Christ,

David and Tule Cox

Prayer Update Feb 17, 2015

Please continue to pray for us. I am getting over a stomach infection. A lady in our church (Marianna) has some Christian friends that lost their mother Sunday, they asked me to preach the sermon, which Tule and I went there Sunday PM and Monday for the funeral. Pray for Richard and family that they will start coming to our church. The distance is far, and they don’t have a car.

Also please pray for our church as most of the people have the flu that is going around. Some of the elderly very seriously.

Also please continue to pray for our church to officially register with the government. That has been on hold since we went to the US over Christmas.

Malware problems

As a prayer request, I would ask that you please pray for me and my ministry. I have about 30 websites. About 10 have free books on them for various free Bible software programs (5 in English, 5 in Spanish). Besides that I have blogs (5) in Spanish for preachers and laymen, and five in English ( I also have our Spanish church’s blog, and my sermons website.

In addition, I have my writings on four more websites, two in English and two in Spanish.

Of all of these websites of our ministry, 6 have been so heavily attacked by malware and viruses that I have trouble even logging onto them and doing anything with them. Those with my personal writings have been most heaviest hit.

Please pray for websites that I can protect them from these attacks, and keep them serving God’s people.
